Blue Collar Brewing Grand Opening

The BCB boys, Steve Heck, John Bonato & Rich Falasco, finally took time out from their very busy schedules to open the brewery to the public and reveal the brewing secrets that have made them a quick success in this section of Southern New Jersey. The day was picture perfect...warm and sunny with no hint of rain. The event was originally scheduled for 12 Noon, but was changed to 1PM. As we were pulling in at 12:45, the brewery was  already swarming with people! Steve was conducting brewery tours in the back, hot dogs and root beer were being served out front, and beer was being pumped in the foyer, much to the delight of many thirsty fans! Of course, T-shirts, hats and beer in their distinctive cobalt-blue bottles were being sold inside as well!

Only having been in business since November 1999, the owners found themselves overwhelmed by the response from the locals for their product! And it couldn't have happened to a better group of guys! Lovers of good beer, they waded their way through all the bureaucracy to realize a dream and now find themselves already outgrowing their facility in this short time! Plans for expansion are in the works.
Not enough can be said about the locals in their support for this venture! This event was a "Thank You" for the fulfillment of all the hard work and financial strain the principals underwent to reach the goal of sharing their passion with the rest of us! And brewing IS a passion! Financial rewards are not always sought or realized! Success is measured by the quality of the product and acceptance by the public and not always by sales. There are few wealthy brewers...most put their money back into the business to be able to  brew things that are not mainstream and fulfill another dream! I can see these guys doing that in the future. They all work regular jobs to make their livings and run the brewery to share their passion for good beer with us.

Look for the fall seasonals coming out soon...Oktoberfest and possibly a Pumpkin Ale...watch and see! Great things come from small breweries!!!
