Brewpub of the Month
569 Main St.
Bethlehem, PA 18018
(610)882-1300
Bethlehem
Brew Works was founded April 1, 1998 by the Fegley family and has been
growing ever since. Open seven days a week, the restaurant provides some
wonderful meals many prepared with their brews as an ingredient. A very
unpretentious building on a corner in downtown Bethlehem, one is very surprised
when they enter and find the dining areas to be quite large and very nicely
decorated. True to the steel-making tradition of the town, the restaurant
has murals of the local laborers plying their craft and diamond plate and
pipe is used as booth dividers. A most unusual decor but very fitting indeed
given the history of the area.

I tried the sampler of all their
beers..Valley Golden Ale(flagship), South Mountain Hefeweizen, Old G Pale
Ale, Bagpiper's Brew, Fegley's ESB(flagship), and Steelworker's Oatmeal
Stout(flagship)....then decided on a Bagpiper's Brew, a nice malty sweet
brew, to accompany my Cajun Chicken Sandwich and my wife, naturally, had
an Oatmeal Stout with her Monte Cristo. The service was very quick and
the portions plentiful. The menu has quite a few selections you don't see
too often and makes for some interesting choices. Not the standard pub
grub here! Bring your appetites, but no reason to empty out the account
before you arrive, the prices here are quite reasonable. They have no parking
other than public parking, though that was not a problem when we were there.
The brewpub is open Sunday-Wednesday,11AM
- 11PM and Thursday - Saturday,11AM - 1AM with Happy Hours from
4:30 - 6:30, Mon-Fri.

They have recently added a Belgian
Beer Bar called "The Steelgarden" and serves over 50 different Belgian
Specialties. When available, there will be several on draught, but most
will be bottled. The selections have been chosen carefully and are the
best of the best! From a light witbier to a very large Quadruppel, your
senses may take in all the expereinces that go with tasting the finest
beers in the world.
This brewpub was certainly
worth the trip. Their seasonal choices have become more daring with everything
from a Belgian Tripel to a Pumpkin Ale with something new coming
all the time from these skilled brewers. A fine assortment of single malt
scotches, small batch bourbons and a fine selection of PA wines from local
vintners are also available for the aficionado.
Can't wait to get back there!
The usual assortment of paraphernalia is available for breweriana collectors....their
logo really looks nice embroidered on a polo shirt! You can get more info
and maps on their website. So
look them up on the Web and whenever you're in that part of PA, stop by
and enjoy a brew!
