Our favorite place and people has
to be Cedar Creek Brewery &
Restaurant
in Egg Harbor City, NJ. It is a
small, quiet place with good beers and outstanding food. The service has
always been excellent and the people friendly. They have daily and Happy
Hour specials. Visit their Web Site for all the info on specials, events
and menu. Our favorite is the Beer-Battered Chicken Tenders that are quite
large and very tasty and the Caesar Salad which is also quite a mouthful.
We have tried almost everything on the menu and can say that there hasn't
been a bad meal yet. The chef uses the beers in almost all of his dishes
which enhances the experience.
Their beer selection is quite good
ranging from a Lite Ale to an Oatmeal Stout.
They carry River Horse Lager on
tap from River Horse Brewing in
Lambertville, NJ as they would have to tie up the equipment for too long
a time to brew their own lager. The brewer makes an Imperial Stout and
a Christmas Ale during the holidays which is an extra special treat. The
Imperial has a high ABV and fits the style quite nicely and the Christmas
is rich in cloves and spices and very satisfying. The brewing equipment
is visible in the brewpub itself and I suppose,you could watch them brew
if you timed it right.
They have only held one Brewmaster's
Dinner which was outstanding. I hope that they will do it again, as the
chef and the brewer really shine in their pairing of food and brew.
This place is a must for the beer
traveler and is well worth the trip from anywhere. We met people from York,PA
who have been there! We must support our brewpubs if we expect to keep
them!
