This morning just didn't seem to start out on the right foot. I was sleeping and the sun was already up when Sandy called me and woke me up to help her use the commode, which I keep for her, between our beds at night. I swung my legs out of bed and, half asleep, attempted to stand up, but for some reason, my left leg didn't want to support me, and I partially fell over against the commode. When Sandy saw that I was not hurt she started laughing and was still laughing three minutes later when I wheeled her and the wheelchair out into the living room. She said I looked like I was drunk when I got out of bed. When I looked out the front window I viewed the scene pictured below. One of our bird feeders was tipped over and a planter box that had been hanging on the edge of the wheelchair ramp had been knocked over onto the ground. My ready assumption was that an animal had used the planter box as a launching platform in order to jump through the air, over onto the bird feeder. Cats can do this and possibly other animals too. The weight of the animal on the bird feeder caused the metal pole to bend. My Son, Jonathan, went out and picked up the pole and bird feeder. He said that the fresh block of suet that had been on the end of the feeder was gone. Now, what animals would eat suet? Raccoons maybe? Would a raccoon jump that far? The investigation continues.
