You Have To Have The Goods
Duane Hellwig, a good friend in the Assembly that I began attending two days after I was saved and born again in 1962, gave me this little poem and I still like it. Duane was, and still is, a good Christian Brother.
You can't give what you don't have
You have to have the goods my friends if you would
finish strong
A bluff may work a little while, but not for very long
A line of words all by themselves will seldom see you through
You have to have the goods my friends , and nothing else will do
The fight is pretty stiff my friends, I'd say its rather rough
And all along the route are wrecks, of those who tried to bluff
They couldn't back their line of talk, to meet the final test
You have to have the goods my friends and that's no idle jest
