A vocation includes one's career (the collection and progression of work that one does to make a living) as well as productive activities outside one’s job or principle career path, volunteer activities, and any formal and informal education which support those activities. I want to have a page to show these activities in my life, not just the income producing career.
I've been involved in photography as a hobby for most of my life, and recently have done some things professionally. Much of my web design and development is supported with my photography, and I have had several recent interesting photography projects, including the documentation of a pottery collection and promotional works for another client involving thematic posed photos for calendars. I have skills in color balance and lighting correction in Photoshop (tm) and knowledge of color theory. I am well versed in many photo editing techniques. See the photography pages of my web site for examples and more information.
I have over 16 years experience in software engineering as an embedded systems software engineer. This has given me extensive experience in computer programming, especially in C language and related computer languages. For more information, click here for my employment history.
In the fall of 2000, I completed a 200 classroom hour certificate program from Regis University for Web Development. It was an intensive course which included Internet fundamentals, HTML, the use of Dreamweaver, graphics editing with Paint Shop Pro, JavaScript, LINUX fundamentals, CGI programming with Perl, and a quick survey of Java.
In the Spring of 2002, I took courses in Java and art composition design at Front Range Community College in Westminster, Colorado.
