About The Mighty Bohunks
The Mighty Bohunks are a classic bar band with a big thick sound. Starting with blues favorites by BB King, Buddy Guy, and Robert Johnson, they add classic tunes by rock bands that were heavily influenced by American Blues. Deep album cuts by ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers, Steppenwolf, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Uriah Heep, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and so many others. The Mighty Bohunks will also throw in a lighter dance tune or two during the sets to show off their diversity.
Adding to the usual electric guitar, bass and drums is the Hammond Organ played masterfully by Vic Kylochko. Nothing, not even the most expensive digital synthesizers can match the majestic tone of the B3. Vic also plays electric piano, and if that weren't enough, Vic is a fantastic Blues Harp player as well.
For the Bohunks, the guitar bass and drums are anything but ordinary. On the drums is Ron Kylochko, a seasoned club drummer with a huge power funk groove, who also has a big-league singing voice. On electric bass is Joe Wivoda. Joe goes far beyond the minimum requirements for a bassist. Joe can play lead bass, "talking" bass ala Paul McCartney, or 12-bar blues that will bring a strong man to his knees. Dave Mottaz is the Bohunk's guitarist. Channeling Jimmy Page, BB King and SRV is what Dave is all about. Dave shares lead vocal duties with Ron "Coconut" Kylochko. The "5th Beatle" for the Bohunks is Scott "Meathead Reagan, their sound engineer.
The Mighty Bohunks have been together for 6 years, playing mainly on the Iron Range and occasionally in the Twin Cities, in St. Paul and the Monticello area in the clubs, participating in the Blues Festival (Blues On The Range), or headlining a street dance. The Bohunks are reliable professional musicians with many years experience catering to the blue-collar working-man crowd.
