The highlight of the second annual Hanover Heritage Day, held May 29th, 2004, was the premiere of a new re-enactment of Patrick Henry's famous trial, know as "The Parson's Cause". Written by Kevin Grantz, the re-enactment featured Michael Wells as Patrick Henry, Bill Young as the Clerk, The Honorable John R. Alderman as the Judge, Kevin Grantz as Peter Lyons, Steve Hawkins as the Sheriff, Beauregard Marie as William Gist, and John Tucker as Wm. McDowell. Four sold-out performances were held, and the Hanover Historical Society, our client, is planning more performances in the future. (Update: next performance is set for July31, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. and again at 3:30 p.m.) Virginia Patriots, Inc., was also contracted to provide two interpreters to portray Henry Clay and Andrew Jackson, who engaged in some 1840's politicking and gave stump speeches to the crowds. A vote was taken, and Mr. Clay eked out a narrow victory. | |||||||||||||||||||
