Patrick Henry (1736-1799) is recognized as one of the most important figures in the history of the Revolution in Virginia. It was Patrick Henry who was the man who, in Jefferson's words, "set the ball of Revolution rolling" in Virginia. The famous speech in which Henry declared, "Give me liberty, or give me death!" was given at St. John's Church in Richmond, during the debates of the Second Virginia Convention, and Henry's stirring rhetoric helped swing sentiment to his belief that Virginians must prepare for the inevitable conflict with Great Britain.

Patrick Henry speaks again to modern audiences as presented by Michael Wells. Mr. Wells has performed as Patrick Henry since 1992 at historic St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia. He has performed for The American Academy of Achievement, the Patrick Henry Society of Emory & Henry College, The National Forensics League, The Conservative Political Action Committee 2000 convention, the Core Knowledge Foundation 2001 convention, and numerous other groups. In 1995, Wells appeared in the A&E cable network's "Biography" series as the voice of Patrick Henry, and has appeared with Willard Scott on NBC's "Today" show, and as Patrick Henry in "The Founding Fathers" series on The History Channel.
