The National Jigsaw Puzzle Championships were held in Athens, Ohio in 1982-1987 and 1990.

Springbok puzzles were used in
1982-1985 and 1990.

American Publishing puzzles were used in
1986-1987.

Puzzlers could enter either the:
Singles Competition - 500 piece puzzles, limited to 360 entrants, or the
Doubles Competition - 1000 piece puzzles, limited to 180 teams of two people.

Competition consisted of two rounds, with the top 15 finishers from the Semifinals Round (Saturday) advancing to the Finals Round (Sunday). All puzzles were previously unavailable in stores, featured new die-cuts, and were kept strictly secret prior to the competition.

Other events included a Sprints competition (mini-puzzles), puzzle exhibits and demonstrations, a puzzle trade, and a variety of social mixers.

Puzzle sites included the Ohio University Convocation Center (semifinals round), the Southeastern Ohio Cultural Arts Center (better known as "The Dairy Barn") (finals round), and the Ohio University Inn (social mixers).

I personally attended in 1983, 1984, 1985, and 1990, and had an absolutely splendid experience each year.
