Rogers Family Adoption Letter:

Mike, Vega and Autumn Rogers

Hi, we're the Rogers family, and we're looking for a baby to join us!  We're ready to say hello to someone who will be a brother or sister to Autumn, and a joy to all of us.  If you are considering placing a baby for adoption, we would love to hear from you.  We know that adoption is a loving choice, made by someone who is not able to parent at this time, and we believe that the birth parent should be able to know how the child is doing as he or she grows up, if that is their wish.  Autumn was adopted, and we send photos to her birth mother just as we do to other members of our family.  We would love to have a baby to join her.

We live in Monterey, California, on the coast south of the San Francisco Bay area.  Monterey is a small town with lots of parks, a beautiful beach, and a variety of things to do.    It’s close enough to the big city for weekend shopping trips, but far enough away to avoid the congestion.  Throughout the year there are fun things for families, including the sand castle contest, the kite flying contest, the Independence Day parade and fireworks, and whale watching tours.  We love the small town atmosphere and the friendliness.

Our house is in a quiet suburban area, with trees all around.  Some of our neighbors have swings hanging from tree branches for their kids.  We have a park nearby with a great playground, and we’re about a mile from the beach.  Cats love us, and we have four of them, some of whom were headed to the SPCA and adopted us first.  They all have a story to tell, and there’s plenty of room for all of them.

OUR FAMILIES

Our families live far enough away for comfort, yet close enough for get-togethers.  Mike’s family is all in California, and Vega has relatives all over the country, including California.  They all are rooting for us to find a brother or sister for Autumn.  When visiting with them, we like to do fun things like go to a movie or science fiction convention or motorcycle show.  We always get together with family for Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as other times during the year, and catch up with what's been happening with everyone.

Since we’ve both lived in Monterey for over 20 years, we consider it to be our home, but Mike was born in California’s Central Valley and moved to the coast as a child.  Vega was born on the East Coast and moved to California.  We love to visit new places, and like to explore back roads when we visit a new town, but we’re always happy to come back to our home afterwards.

  ABOUT MIKE

Mike is everybody’s favorite fix-it guy and storyteller.  At work, he fixes computers.  At home, he fixes anything that needs fixing.  He’s great with his hands and loves to get a new tool to play with.  His last new tool was a nail gun, which he’s using on a building project.  At work, everyone looks forward to Mike’s famous bean dip when they have a potluck.  Sometimes they even schedule a special “bean dip Friday” when they’ve gone too long without it.  At home, it’s Mike’s famous spaghetti sauce, which he never makes the same way twice.  He likes to experiment, and usually comes up with something tasty as well as different.  When he’s not fixing things, or cooking, or on the Internet, he likes to read.  Mike is the guy that everybody likes, because he’s capable, entertaining, and bashful, all in one package.  We’ve been married for over fifteen years, and still have fun together.

ABOUT VEGA

Vega is the thoughtful one, who likes to socialize but also likes to curl up in a corner with a book.  She is interested in things ranging from how to get roses to grow, to figuring out tax returns.  When we moved to our house, she planted a few rosebushes.  Now she has over a dozen.  When the deer came around and nibbled all the leaves off them, the two of us spent that evening putting up a fence around all the bushes to keep the deer away.  When the gophers ate all the roots off them, she got new ones and surrounded some with wire cages around the roots, and put others in pots.  Vega is also the practical one, who arranged the financing so we could buy our house.  She keeps track of dates and always has our Christmas card list.  At work she’s an accountant, so all that organizing ability comes in handy.  She’s also the one the cats want to curl up with, since she babies them.  We're best friends and do most things together.

ABOUT AUTUMN

Autumn was born in April, 2003.  Her birth mother looked for the perfect family for her, and we came together.  Since her birth family is in Indiana, we send them photos as she grows.  Autumn is happy to have lots of people who love her!  She has a sunny personality and looks forward to playing with her friends every day.

  TOGETHER

We look forward to bringing home another baby, boy or girl, to add to our family.  We enjoy the simple things, like watching a video and making popcorn, going to the beach and watching the waves, going out for walks in the evening and saying hi to the neighbors’ dogs, listening to the frogs calling at night down the street from our house, watching raccoons running across the yard, playing board games at family get-togethers, or just going out on the porch and admiring the full moon.  We have a home full of love and hugs, waiting for a baby who'll have a big sister to play with.  We are open to whatever level of contact you would like to have.  Please call us or email us.  We’d love to hear from you.
