I found
a brochure in an old box recently that tells the
promotional side of Steel King. It is fantastic reading! On
the Holiday...

For the
Holiday, it says "This model is for the young at heart who
like the sunshine and breeze of an open boat yet all the comfort
of a cruiser. Hatches make engine and gear accessible. The
cockpit is self-bailing. Stern seat is standard equipment.
This boat has speeds up to 35 mph., with power available.
The boat features a one-piece reinforced fiberglass top with
wrap-around windshield - plate glass in front of operators. This
two sleeper has flush deck full headroom cabin with twin berths
at sitting-height, with matching helmsman and companion seats. Large
storage lockers under bunks and in head. Private toilet compartment
under forward deck."
... and
there was a covered deck version as well, the 26' Express
Cruiser!

This boat
was much more like my father's only his had a hard top and wooden-framed
side windows in the cockpit. The brochure says "This
new 26' Express is years ahead in styling and design advancements.
Powered with a single 225 hp. Graymarine V-8, she develops
speeds up to 33 m.p.h. The boat features a one-piece reinforced
fiberglass top and wrap-around windshield, with plate glass in front
of operator. After cockpit is one level floor - no step up
or down. Hatches make engine and gear accessible. A
hard top for flying bridge, made of fiber glass, is available as
well as canvas top pictured... We offer as standard arrangement
this deluxe interior, which is an extra on some competitive models.
This arrangement has full headroom in cabin and head, full-length
bunks, dinette, galley storage locker and radio shelf. There
is storage space under the bunks and dinette. The head has
marine toilet and storage locker. A one-piece, fire proof,
fiberglass galley and head counter top with wash basin and sink
built-in, adds lasting beauty and durability to your interior."
