A 3D view of the trail facing east. On our return from the lake we dropped to a part of the trail a bit south of the one we arrived on. The red ball in the background is a thumbtack marking the Brainard Lake CMC cabin.
The trail had a couple of steep sections between the 1 and 1.5 mile mark.
We crossed this stream on two sets of paired logs. The stream is spread over a hundred feet or so and flows slowly enough that plants and flowers grow in its bed.

It's July, but Blue Lake is still mostly covered in ice.
