The map of the Blue lake trail. Mitchel Lake and Blue Lake are not marked on the map.

A 3D view of the trail facing northwest. Once again, we lost the trail on the way back. Some people never learn! In our defense, the trail is very indistinct near the lake. We recovered the trail pretty quickly and made it back to the parking lot with no further digressions.

There were a couple of steep sections between the 1 and 1.5 mile mark. On the way back all the rock made for tricky footing in the dark. My ankle is still a bit wobbly after spraining it on the Fern Canyon hike and this was a pretty severe test.

Nearly everyone has made it safely to the far side of the log bridge.

The full moon is just on the ridge.

Blue lake by moonlight with splashes of light from headlamps in the foreground.

This year's group photo.
