Solo Snowshoe to Brainard Lake

I had a bad case of cabin fever and needed a mountain fix, so I decided to take a hike to Brainard Lake all by myself.

On the way up, I took a right turn on the trail when I should have gone left. On the way back I missed the right turn and wound up going the same wrong way again. The result is that figure 8 on the tracklog.

The elevation gain from the trailhead to the lake isn't that great; only about 350 feet.

The wind at the top of Mt. Audubon tends to blow snow off of the ground and creates a small cloud on the lee side.

The lake looks pretty solidly frozen. I didn't try walking on it, but it was probably safe enough.

The weather was warm and beautiful in town and I was afraid that the snow would be bad on the trail.

Even walking on the road wasn't that bad.
