This is the map of the trail from the visitors center to the lab.

A 3D view of the trail.

The trail rises about 2200 feet in 4.5 miles. No wonder we were tired afterward.

There are several spots along the trail where mysterious weather instruments whir and buzz.

Hey, Kelly! What's keeping you? Or as Kelly would say "Hey, Dave! What's your friggin' hurry?"

The watershed is strictly off limits. There are small pools scattered here and there over the tundra. It's so beautiful that I'd like to spend more time soaking in the view... but, it's too darn cold and windy to stand still for too long.

The C.U. Niwot Ridge Weather Research Lab. We've been near here couple times before, after climbing Niwot Ridge from the North side. The last time we were here must have been 15 years ago and we were chased off by lightning.

These are a nearly 360 degree panorama from lab.

Kelly checks out the camera. He's been checking out the view almost obsessively ever since he discovered it a few years ago. You can visit the TundraCam too.

Threatening clouds cover the mountains to the West.

The weather changes fast around here. Just a few minutes after the previous picture was taken, it's cleared up again.
