Here are some picture's of the final clean up of the 1949 John Deere Styled G. In the photos below are the main case, rear end case, front frame, and all the other parts all cleaned up. I had it all sandblasted "note that all bearings gears and shafts were all removed for the sandblasting". Then I used OSPHO Rust Treatment with phosphoric acid. It all cleaned up really nice. I will start to put the John Deere G back together this weekend 07/28/06. It has been along time coming to this point, but it soon will be back together and running.
Also here is one of my extra blocks I have it is for an USG block part #F48R. It is brand new NOS I found it in my travels. I might add it is the correct block for a low radiator USG, from the first USG serial G1000 to serial G4250 is for the low radiator USG, and it also is correct for USG up to serial G7099. I will be posting more to come what I'm doing with that block soon. You might wonder what I might be restoring next. "?"
You can see in side of the block #F48R it has never had no water inside or coolant in it at all. If it would have been used it would have been pitted and rusted up in side of the block. But as you see it is a #F48R NOS block, allot of people would like to have this for there own USG, but they are hard to come by NOS.
