Here are some more picture's of the tear down of the 1949 John Deere Styled G. In the photos below is the removal of the bull gears, axles, bearing cups, and bearings. I would like to say the John Deere G that I'm restoring was in pretty good shape. But when I get this restoration done it will be as good as new back in 1949. The axle bearings were in ok shape for how long that they were in there. But it had about 5 gallons of water in it when I brought it home so there was moister in the housing and it caused the bearings to rust and pit a lot. I will be replacing all of the bearings in the whole tractor when I'm done with the restoration. Also I would like to let all of you John Deere guys know is Timken is no longer making part #47621 witch is the cup for the rear axles. They used that Timken #47621 cups on serials G10241 to G48399. The years late 1940 to early 1951. If you find someone that has them left on a shelf you will pay over $320.00 each for them, you need 4 of them also. And the Timken #47685 witch is the cone bearing, it will cost you $75.00 each for them, you need 4 of them also. The Timken #47685 cone bearing was used on serials G10241 to G63489. The years late 1940 to the end of production in 1953. The grand total to replace the cups, and cone bearings is $1600.00. No one else makes that size of cup. So if any of you John Deere guys need these cups, and cone bearings good luck finding them. I found them but from what I'm told I there is only a few of the Timken #47621 cups left out there on the shelves. When they are gone they are gone. I hope to have the John Deere G back and running in the spring of 2006. For Sale a set of axle bearings, Timken #47621 cups and #47685 cone bearings for a John Deere G. I found a second set of the Timken part #47621 witch is the cups that they are obsolete. I bought the last ones on the shelves, and found Timken part #47685 witch is the cone bearing. The Timken cups #47621 fit John Deere G tractors serials G10241 to G48399 the years are late 1940 to early 1951 if anybody needs them I WILL QUOTE a price for them I paid $1600.00 for the ones that I bought from A&W Bearings in Texas there is no more of the part #47621 left anywhere you mite find them in some old part store. So if any of you need these races and bearings E-mail me I will be glad to help you out with them. They mite fit other John Deere tractors axles I'm not shore.
