Welcome! This website is dedicated to promoting cooperative learning in education both K-12 and in higher education. It provides cooperative learning tips and ideas from the archives of the MAACIE Newsletter, links to other sites on cooperative learning in education, and information about other cooperative learning resources. MAACIE is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a network for people interested in studying, evaluating, developing, or applying cooperative educational methods, approaches, or points of view in educational settings. Toward that end, MAACIE provides conferences, public discussion groups, lectures, workshops, and publications. MAACIE was founded in 1987 by a group led by Neil Davidson and Frank Lyman, both of the University of Maryland in College Park. Our first conference in Annapolis drew nearly 260 participants. We incorporated as a regional affiliate of the International Association for the Study of Cooperation in Education (IASCE). In 1990 MAACIE hosted the IASCE Conference in Baltimore. Each year MAACIE hosts regional workshops on topics of interest to areas educators. MAACIE has recently decided to communicate electronically, thereby eliminating the need for annual dues to suport dissemination of a newsletter. To receive updates via email, please join our listserve (see menu). Otherwise, enjoy the site! |
