This poem is very special to me. I would like to share the background of why it was written so it will have meaning to you. Five Tourist (two were young children who were cousins) plus the pilot were in a helicopter that crashed into the side of Mt. Wai`ale`ale during a terrible tropical storm. I believe that all of Kauai was praying for the families who had lost loved ones in this tragic accident.

The second morning about 6:00 a.m. my husband called me to the backyard to view a most unbelievable sight. You could not see Mt. Wai`ale`ale as she was surrounded by a heavenly glow. As we watched in disbelief a colorful rainbow came out of that light. You felt in your heart that you had just witnessed a blessing by God.

I was told by Larry Rivera if you see a Hawaiian White Rainbow it would be from scanning the sky ... I don't know why at that moment I remembered what he said, but I did. So I scanned the sky. And there it was ... right there in my sight. Kauai had also reached out to these people on Mt. Wai`ale`ale sharing their special rainbow.

I talked to a Hawaiian lady about this sighting and she said, "when you see a Hawaiian White Rainbow it is only meant for you" nobody else would have known it was there ... this was truly a blessing for the families that had lost loved ones. I felt like we had been chose to share this vision with these families, to let them know that their loved ones were now at peace and in God's hands. Hospice of Kauai made this possible by forwarding our card with photos to each family.

MY WHITE RAINBOW
As we greet an early morning on our beautiful Kauai
Mt. Wai`ale`ale is bathed in a splendor of light.

A glow so bright out of a sky from the night,
showing a brilliant rainbow now turning white.

Rare is the Hawaiian White Rainbow as it's seen by so few,
as it appears in a clear sky meant only for you.

With tears in our eyes but a memory for life,
we watched this white rainbow slowly fade from our sight.

MY ISLAND OF KAUAI
The Lord has made Kauai a beauty it's true,
with flowers, birds and beautiful butterflies too.

Color goes mauka (mountain) and also makai (sea),
with Wailua River along for the ride.

Kauai means love when you spell it all out,
an island that touches you from inside and out.

The sun brings you warmth and a feeling of love,
so lets shout ALOHA to those all about.

REMEMBERING MY DAD
(In rememberance of a wonderful father)

As I look up at a sky of twinkling stars this night,
I think of a dad that taught me wrong from right.

No other man could have more love than he had for his wife,
as now I feel he's close to mom each day and every night.

For me a rainbow in the sky and a tear in my eye,
feeling love in my heart and so glad you're in my life.

I LOVE YOU PA!

MY ANUENUE
(Kauai is a mystical Island if you let it touch your life)

My rainbow man has been with me,
while in Kauai and across the sea.

He brought us back to live our life,
to learn about our families past.

Oh rainbow man a warrior you are,
as your power is beauty high in the sky.

With a rainbow crossing in front of my sight,
showing me beauty that has now touched my life.

A HUG

The sky so blue,
so colorful too.

The eyes see beauty,
the heart feels love.

Now a beautiful rainbow,
can you feel the hug?

TO BE CHERISHED
Love is to be cherished.
To trust is to love.

To lie is a sin.
Do not betray my love.

For love is lost
when there is no trust.

Love plus Trust equals,
to be cherished forever.

MY KAUAI CRITTER
(Was it a cricket?)

There was a little critter,
who was quiet in the light.

But come night he would chirp,
with all of his might.

And then I saw why,
as I saw the blinking light.

He was in love,
with a red Ridex bug light.

I caught this little critter,
that was so slight.

And tossed him into the dark,
so I could sleep through this night.

A LITTLE RAINBOW

My heart has been touched by a hug from my Pa,
for this morning a rainbow appeared on my door.

From heaven above I felt his presence was here,
I cried like a baby as no one was near.

I told him I missed him as I reached for the door,
with my eyes full of tears I heard my Pa say.

Thank you for being close to your Mother for me,
as a rainbow appears always know I am near.

Give my love to your Mama as you know I was here,
and be watchful for rainbows so I can be near.

AN EASTER PRAYER

Dear Lord,
Tomorrow is Easter,
and the day of your rising.

It's a time to rejoice,
and a time to be blessed.

A day of prayer's,
and of singing a song.

To forgive those you doubt,
and to make a new friend.

This day as always,
will be shared with you.

As we celebrate your gift,
of Love ... and Hope.
