Welcome to my Web site!
Hello my name is Ming-Chih Crouthamel and I am
originally from Taipei, Taiwan but now have the pleasure of residing in
the Great State of Pennsylvania. Below is the speech I gave in
Philadelphia when I was sworn in as an American citizen.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
To the
members of this honorable Court and all others within the sound of my
voice I have something to say on behalf of we who have taken the step to
become citizens of these United States of America.
Today is
a day of pride!
I have
become a citizen of the greatest country in this world. I knew something
of its greatness before I came here, but that was only hearsay. But
having lived here, I have seen its greatness and its grandeur for
myself.
-
The power of its military!
-
The justice of its courts!
-
The security of its laws!
-
The bounty of its produce!
- And
the joy of its freedoms, the rights and privileges guaranteed by a
Constitution that is the envy of the world.
Today is
also a day of gratitude!
This
great country opened its arms to receive and embrace me as part of its
national family without bias or prejudice, giving me the opportunity to
grow and improve myself beyond my dreams.
I have
hope for my future and will do all I can to provide hope and strength
for the future of this country.
When
that national flag of stars and stripes is raised my spirit is lifted
and I wish to do what the anthem says, stand beside her and guide her
with all the talents, skills and character that God has given me.
For
this great privilege of swearing the oath of allegiance to America I
thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God continue to bless and
strengthen America, a country that is now my home.
