The
National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was
founded on October 11, 1890. Membership honors and
preserves the legacy of the Patriot ancestors of its members. DAR
members, through participation in the Society's various programs
and activities, continue this legacy.
The
first documented meeting of the Philip
Livingston Chapter, National
Society Daughters
of the American Revolution, was
held 9 April 1908. The chapter was chartered on July
8, 1908 with twelve members. Mrs. Kate
Smith Stowe was organizing Regent. Member
names as they appear on the charter are Martha Emilie Beach,
Cordelia Elizabeth Sexton Bullock, Grace E. Knapp, Addie
Munroe Garland, Maude Kneeland Gough, Adaline W. L. Huntington,
Alice A. Lee Lee, Isabel McPherson, Rosa Lee McPherson,
Florence Knapp Rumsey, Lucretia E. Smith, and Kate Smith
Stowe.
