Welcome to the race! You (and your partner if you have one) are about to set off for adventure!
You are taking part in a Capital race across the United States. This means you will be racing from state capital to state capital, starting in California, and ending in Maryland. The team that finishes in the shortest number of miles, wins!
This means: you will have to use your knowledge of Math and Geography in order to determine the best route across the continental US (this excludes Hawaii and Alaska). You will have guidelines to follow, resources available to you, and you will have to keep track of your travels. For more information to get you started, move to the next section, Race Guidelines.
How will you ensure your distance is the shortest? You will need to use your knowledge of estimation in order to determine which of your options will indeed be the shortest. Also, you will need to compare numbers and equations to determine which route is shorter. Keep in mind: you are looking for the shortest distance.
