Solar Power
We have used solar panels to warm up the swimming pool since 1999. They work very well. For a good product and great service, check out Hot Sun Industries. This company caught my eye originally because they were then out of Vancouver, BC, which affirmed my suspicion that solar power was a good deal in Seattle. Pictured here is the south side of our house in Bellevue, WA with six solar panels called "powermats." Understand that heating a pool this way is a very different strategy from heating household water or photo-electric cells making electricity. With a cover on the pool and the solar system we enjoy pool temperatures over 80° and sometimes over 90° from May thru mid September. We did the whole deal over the Internet when we bought, and I rate the company A+ for helpful personal service. Home
