| Marie-Joelle Simond has been teaching for over 20 years in France and the U.S. She has had her own preschool since 1996. |
| The morning is devoted to teaching preschool, the afternoon allows the children to rest and play using their imagination and creativity. I use music and movement to help children release their energy and enhance their creativity. I teach French using fun props like games, books, puppets and manipulatives. I speak French 50-80% of the time, 100% to French-speaking children. We work on a different letter of the alphabet every week and play a lot of games to reinforce these pre-reading skills. The children learn to count in both languages, learn their shapes and patterns and do easy problem solving. I tailor homework to each child's individual needs and abilities. One child may learn to write the alphabet while another may already read and do advanced math. The art projects are a fun part of the morning. They include cutting, painting, gluing and playing with clay. They reinforce the children's hand-eye coordination and self esteem. |
Marie-Joelle is a member of the Seattle Food Program which insures well-balanced and nutritious meals. She was voted provider of the month in 2000. | "We are proud of the work demonstrated in Flynn's
notebooks and are continually surprised by his spontaneous reminders of how much he has really
learned in both English and French." Maria 206-440-9011 "If Kindergarten is as good and fulfilling for kids as Marie-Joelle's preschool, I will feel lucky."
