My first custom
Newborn Baby Minty

HOW I DID IT
First I bought a fakie from the dollar store called Funny Toy.
It has a doll and a little baby pony in a plastic case. The pony IS a MLP mold of a newborn with only a tail and ugly painted eyes. I took her home and removed her tail and use nail polish remover to take off the eye paint. I removed her head, it pops off easily with these fakies. Then I used Apple Barrel Colors acrylic paint(very inexpensive, about 36 cents for 2 oz.) in Victorian Green for her body. It took about 6 thin coats to cover up the pink plastic. Then I used a Painters paint marker to paint the white of her eyes(these fakies have molded spots for eyes so you can paint it correctly. I used Newborn Twin Baby Tangles as a guide).
Then I used a black thin Sharpie marker to paint the blacks of her eyes. I filled in the iris with Apple Barrel Colors Regency Blue. For her symbols I used a very thin brush and Delta Ceramcoat in Green Isle. They took about two coats. Then I purchased some Curly Hair in white from the craft store and gathered up enough hair for the tail and treaded it trough by taping the end to help it go through her tail hole. I pulled it through the neck opening. I tied a knot and pulled it back out. Since the hair was in individual spirals I had to brush it out and trim it down to the length I needed. I recurled it around my finger and it looked more like a MLP tail. The mane was easier than I thought but still time consuming. I bought some long soft sculpture needles and used tape to get the hair to thread through the needle. These fakies have the lines where the mane SHOULD be, so I used that as my guide. I pushed the needle through the head and out the neck. Tied a knot and pulled it back through. I did two rows and then trimmed and curled the hair. Then as a final touch I used my own blush with a Q-tip and put blush on her and I used the white paint pen to put three freckles in her nose.

Viola! That is how I did my first custom. If you have any questions about my customs feel free to e-mail me!
