Work Experience:

 

Four and a half months as Network Administrator for a medical clinic in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Duties included:

·         Stabilize and maintain a fifteen-server Active Directory Domain with three remote sites connected via Cisco routers and T1 private lines.

·         Proactively insure network integrity and security of servers, routers and wireless access points.

·         Install and redistribute applications and disk shares on the servers.

·         Resolve user issues of any type, network, printer, workstation, iPAQ, HP Tablet or software.

·         Perform corrective maintenance and network expansion with minimal user impact

·         Implement disaster recovery with best practices and backups using Veritas Backup Exec.

·         Maintain the IBM server running AIX by adding and removing user accounts and performing End of Day Routines during the backup.

 

From 2000 until 2005, contract and freelance piecework.

A sampling of projects:

·         Team Lead on five projects replacing legacy Compaq servers and workstations with ProLiant ML570G2 servers and HP d530 workstations.

·         Install a Dell PowerEdge 800 server as Domain Controller, migrate data from the legacy sever, replace five legacy workstations, migrate user files and settings, install two new workstations and install, share and map three printers.

·         Replace two IBM RS6000 AIX servers with one HP DL360 Linux server, migrate data, move networking equipment from legacy cabinet into HP cabinet, install and patch two new Cisco Catalyst 2550 switches then verify complete network functionality.

·         Install, configure and test a Cisco router.

·         Install, configure and test an Avaya VPN.

·         Install a new Dell branch office server, migrate the data then decommission the legacy server.

·         Migrate 1,800 Dell and HP workstations from Windows NT to Windows XP Professional.

·         Install and configure a new branch office consisting of a Dell server, Xerox laser printer and three IBM workstations each with three flat panel displays.

·         Install three wireless access points and upgrade four PC’s to use the wireless network.

·         Convert a twelve-node LAN from Token Ring to Ethernet 802.3. Upgrade all workstations by replacing the hard drives with pre-imaged hard drives. Transfer user files and settings.

·         Restore network connectivity to three training PC’s.

·         Build, test and install networked digital surveillance units in convenience stores.

·         Install and setup Microsoft Office 2000 for fifty users.

·         Build usable PC’s from scrapped PC’s.

·         General PC / server repair, installation and upgrade.

 

Between 1988 and 2000, I enjoyed working in BellSouth’s Brentwood, Tennessee data center. 

Some of my duties:

·         Unpack, stage, configure, install and test incoming computer systems and network components.

·         Provide ongoing repair and support for hundreds of servers and workstations.

·         Provide ongoing repair, expansion and support for a nine-state corporate network.

·         Relocate VAX cluster systems from Atlanta, Georgia to Brentwood, Tennessee.  I was Team Lead of the only team to be commended for exceptional job performance.

·         Segment the corporate network for performance enhancement.

·         Uninstall and package decommissioned computer systems.

·         Other duties as assigned.
