Martin Luther King, Jr.
First Step Technology Center (FSTC) provides free computer and Internet-related instruction and access to online resources for the residents of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Apartments and the clients of partnering service providers. We work with residents amd community organizations who sign our Memo of Understanding; we do not provide direct access to the general public.
Our priority is to develop partnerships that bring new resources and opportunities to residents and the larger community. We invite partners to use the Center's technology resources in exchange for including our residents in job, refugee and ESL-related services and support. We seek to meet the unique needs of the resident population and increase resident involvement. Immediate resident and community needs include ESL, job search, and basic computer and Internet search skills. Residents speak many languages including Somali, Amharic, Tigrinya and Vietnamese.
FSTC has approximately 1,500 square feet of space and can accommodate about 25 individuals at one time.
We have 12 new Dell and HP workstations, each with broadband Internet connectivity, XP and Office applications. Currently, we are upgrading our network and purchasing printer and projector equipment.
First Step Technology Center is located at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Apartments, 7923 Martin Luther King Jr. Way S., Seattle, WA 98118. For more information, call 206-722-4665 or email us.
