New Mexico Club Barrow Association OFFICIAL RULEBOOK

Title and Objects
1. This Association shall be known as the New Mexico Club Barrow Association (NMCBA). This Association shall operate and conduct operations in accordance with the laws of the State of New Mexico providing for such organizations.
2. This Association shall collect, record, and preserve the records club barrow competition from one year to the next. The Association shall publish a summary of the results, to stimulate competition among 4-H and FFA exhibitors. This Association shall award trophy belt buckles, if donors are available, to the top individual exhibitors of club barrows and gilts throughout the course of the show season based on the total number of points accumulated within a given breed division.
Members
3. Members of the Associations shall be admitted, retained, and expelled in accordance with such rules and regulations as the Board of Directors may, from time to time, adopt.
4. Special meetings of the members may be held at such time and place as may be designated in notice, whenever called IN WRITING BY THE DIRECTION OF THE PRESIDENT or CHIEF DIRECTOR. Written notice may be given at the jackpots, by mailing, or on the Internet.
5. Membership shall be limited to bonafide 4-H and FFA members in the state of New Mexico.
6. A fee of $1.00 per head on swine shall be collected at each show through an office charge and will constitute membership in the association. The office fee must be mailed to the Directors of said Association within five (5) days following shows. A $4.00 office fee for the show may be collected. Total entry fees for the NMCBA shall be $15.00.
7. To receive points to apply to the yearly standings in barrow division competition, you must be an active member of the Association at the show from which you receive points.
8. Any member may be suspended and denied privileges of the Association and any non-member may be denied privileges of the association for failure to pay, when due, any obligation owing to the Association, any of its sanctioned shows, THE SHOWCASE, or for giving a worthless check for entry fees, office charges, stock charges, or any other fees or charges connected with the Association and its sanctioned shows. However, fifteen (15) days before action by the Director, written notice of the account due shall be delivered to such member or non-member. When any person continues to remain suspended under this rule for a period of at least ninety (90) days their name may be published in THE SHOWCASE. Any suspension and denial of privileges under this section shall terminate upon full payment of the obligation due the Association.
9. A member or non-member shall not conspire with another person or persons to intentionally violate the rules of the Association, or to knowingly contribute or cooperate with another person or persons, either by affirmative action or inaction, to violate the rules of the Association. Violation of this rule shall subject the member or non-member to disciplinary action, whether or not such member or non-member has actually signed reports filed with Association asserted to be true and correct.
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF EXHIBITION
10. These rules and regulations shall become and be effective October 1, 1996 and thereupon all Rules and Regulations and parts thereof heretofore enforced are hereby repealed, except that the status of all registrations and records made upon previous rules shall remain unchanged.
11. The rules as printed in the NMCBA OFFICIAL RULEBOOK shall be used at all approved shows and contests unless otherwise approved by the President and Director of the respective Association.
SHOW APPROVAL
12. Organizations or individuals wishing to stage or sponsor a Club Barrow show and wishing to be sanctioned by the Association must obtain the prior approval of the Association. Approval does no carry over from year to year, but must be optioned for each individual show or contest.
13. Organizations or individuals wishing to have a sanctioned show must sign and return a standard Show Contract, secured from the Association’s Chief Director, prior to April 1st. A complete list of individual show rules must be submitted to the Association Directors at least thirty (30) days prior to the jackpot so that the Association can publish them on the internet.
14. NMCBA jackpots will begin in May.
15. The Association may approve Breed Association shows provided the shows are open to all 4-H and FFA members within the State of New Mexico. Points earned at these contests will be allowed to count toward the breed division standings, but cannot be entered into the All-Around standing for the year.
16. To gain Association approval, a show must be open to club barrow owners who are in good standing with the Association and are official members of a 4-H or FFA organization within the state. Every sanctioned show must pay all entry fees back. All animals that receive points must receive payback at said jackpot.
17. The results of any approved show or contest must be completed in their entirety on official forms and forwarded to the Association’s Chief Director. The forms must contain the name of the first nine exhibitors in the order of their placing and a notation made about the number of animals exhibited in the class.
18. If the show management does not report the show results to the Association Chief Director within five (5) days after said show, approval of any subsequent show may be denied. The Association’s Chief Director shall email the completed result forms so they can be posted on the Internet.
COMPLETE RESULTS
19. If show results are incomplete, none of the results for that show will be published.
20. Incomplete or inaccurate reports from any shows can cause deserving exhibitors to lose a part or all of the points they should have earned at that show.
21. The Association is not responsible for incorrect results from show officials.
SHOW RULES
22. The Association reserves the right to set up the Association’s booth at all sanctioned prospect shows at no additional charge to the Association. This booth shall be used to sell Association merchandise, enroll members, and distribute literature and publications.
23. The Association is not responsible for the formulation or enforcement of individual show rules. These are the sole responsibility of the show management.
24. The exhibitor will classify the animal. Each animal will be classified at the first jackpot they attend and will remain the same throughout the jackpot season

25. ALL shows must be weekend shows.
26. ALL shows will be on a “CASH ONLY” basis.
27. The Association recommends that officers of sanctioned shows advertise said show in THE SHOWCASE and the Internet. All sanctioned shows will be advertised at no cost. THE SHOWCASE reserves the right to advertise as space permits.
28. The Association recommends that approved shows use the breed category format.
29. ALL 4-H AND FFA MEMBERS MUST SHOW THEIR OWN ANIMALS IN THE RING. If a member has two (2) or more animals in the same class, then other member(s) may show for them.
30. Only 4-H and FFA members, ages 9 through 19, be are allowed to allowed to exhibit at all sanctioned shows. To be eligible the member must have reached their 9th birthday by September 1st of the previous year but not have reached their 20th birthday prior to September 1st of the current year.
31. Booster 4-H members (who have not reached their ninth birthday before September 1st) may exhibit their animals in the NMCBA, but they may not receive points. The Booster club members may receive money and prizes for class winnings as well as grand and reserve prize money.
32. Only barrows and gilts will be allowed to show at sanctioned jackpots after the third weekend in June.
33. Barrows and Gilts will show separated by breeds with classes divided as follows:
1 to 7 head – 1 class
7 to 15 head – 2 classes
16 to 25 head – 3 classes
25 to 35 head – 4 classes
36 to 45 head – 5 classes
34. Pigs shall show in barrow and gilt classes. Following the barrow portion of the show, a grand and reserve barrow will be chosen. Then the same format for the gilts. Then at the end, the grand barrow and grand gilt will show against each other of the show grand. Finally, the reserve barrow and gilt will show against the remaining pig the show reserve grand.
SHOW POINTS
35.Points shall be awarded according to the points table to qualified members of the barrow and gilt divisions to receive yearly awards in each division.
36.Points will be awarded at all Association sanctioned shows during the show season prior to the New Mexico State Fair. The New Mexico State Fair will be the final point show of the year.
37.If one swine division member owns two (2) or more animals and more than one (1) animal is shown in the same class, the member receives points for all animals that said member actually owns in the class.
38. Exhibitors attending out of state jackpots shall not receive points toward the New Mexico Association.
39. Members shall receive only the exact number of points as listed in the point table in the OFFICIAL RULEBOOK.
40. Once points are recorded to an individual member within any of the breed divisions for swine competition, points are non-transferable to any other breed division.
41. In the swine divisions, individual members may only be awarded points by exhibiting the animals that are owned by said exhibitor. “Loan out” animals may not be used to accumulate points. Show officials may request bill of sale and brand inspection.
42. Swine must be entered in the name of the individual member to whom the points will be awarded and will accumulate in the exhibitor’s name.
43. The Grand Champion of the show shall receive 50 points and Reserve Grand Champion shall receive 30 points. These points shall only count toward the All-Around competition.
44. If an animal is classified different at the State Fair than he has been shown all year, then a committee made up of all available advisory board members from the Association can allow the exhibitor to receive points in the class at the New Mexico State Fair, but credit these points to the breed division in which the animal has been shown throughout the jackpot season. If the committee concurs with the classification at the New Mexico State Fair, then only the New Mexico State Fair points will be given for the complete show season for said animal.
AWARDS
45.The NMCBA will award trophy belt buckles to the NMCBA division members accumulating the greatest number of points in both barrows and gilts for the following breed divisions within a given year: SPOTS/POLANDS, DUROCS, CHESTERS/LANDRACES, YORKS, HAMPSHIRES, and CROSSES. For classification purposes, the NMCBA will use the format used by the New Mexico State Fair.
46. The NMCBA will also make awards to other high placing members in each breed division IF, AND ONLY IF, money or donors are available.
47. NMCBA awards an All-Around buckle to the division member who accumulates the largest number of points, based on points accumulated in two (2) or more breed divisions. To qualify for the All-Around points, the division member must earn points by exhibiting animals that are owned by the exhibitor.
