Airventure 2009, Oshkosh, WI
|
In July of 2009 I talked Beth into accompanying me to my 4th trip to Airventure in Oshkosh, WI. Airventure is a week long “Wookstock” for pilots. There are airshows every day, along with aviation related forums and workshops, and acres of vendors and airplanes. Airventure 2009 featured over 2600 show planes, 10,000 other airplanes (people flying in to camp or see the events), and 41,000 campers (airplanes and campers). We drove out, towed our pop-up trailer, and camped at the airport for five nights. The weather was kind to us. It was cool and just a little wet. Typically, Airventure is hot and dry.

| Each time that I go to this event I can’t help getting lots of pictures of polished aluminum airplanes. | |
| There were several Pietenpol AirCampers (the same type of airplane that I am building) at the event. Three had Corvair engines, the same as I have. | |
| More Shine! | |
| More Shine! | |
| And still more shine! | |
| Other interesting aircraft include the new Air Bus A380 double decker. This thing is huge. | |
| There was a British WWII Lancaster bomber in display. | |
| Also, another of my favorite homebuilts, the little Davis DA-2 was there. |
