On the Road 2

East of Sonora Pass. I was surprised how green these normally dry areas were. Incredibly beautiful.

Monitor Pass. Wildflowers were out in force.

Same location on Monitor Pass, looking the opposite direction.

Hwy 49 a few miles East of Downieville.

Museum at Malakoff Diggins State Park.

A colorful butterfly I picked up en route. Bats are considered beneficial critters because they reduce insect populations.
My BBG STealth is no slouch in that department.

This is Bill, 82 years old and a true motorcycle enthusiast. I met him in Truckee, CA where his face would really light up when he spoke of the good times he had riding. He rode his Moto-Guzzi until he was age 76 and now was actively encouraging me to take my motorcycle to the far ends of the earth, places he wished he had gone but never found the time. He told me it was no problem riding alone because wherever you go you will have friends eager to help you out. He also said the Italians really knew their motorbikes.

This sign was 31 miles East of Downieville on Hwy 49. It wasn't joking. There were two or three corners after that sign that I would rate as
some of the most deceptive looking corners I've ever ridden.

Bullard's Dam.

It's pretty big.

Historic Bridge off Cherokee Rd.

Cherokee Rd. between Oroville and Hwy 70. If you thought a barrel of monkeys was a good time, try this road. Just make sure your medical coverage is paid up and you don't find yourself 12 inches off the ground when you need to make a sharp right hander.

Hwy 49, east of Downieville. No shortage of water this year!

Gold Lake Rd. It had snowed the night before I left Downieville.

Geneese Rd. between Talorsville and Janesville. It seems in this part of the state almost every town is named something-"ville".
As long as the roads are this nice I won't complain!

Hwy 139 looking over Eagle Lake, California's longest continous Fas Route (Federal-Aid Secondary Routes), completed in 1956.
Very nice curves with little traffic.

Crooked Creek Valley, North of Lakeview, OR.

Hwy 218, North of Antelope, OR. Almost no traffic and nice, grippy pavement. Sweet!

See the Madd ones up close!
