Miller Time

A note from MSHA President

John Miller

It seems like only last week that I pulled my gym bag out of the closet and my red pants from the drawer. The Coney Classic, Mankato Handball Experience and the University of Minnesota Classic are all in the past. On the bright side, something new was added to the handball calendar in 2005 – The Mucklander Cup. The best of Minnesota handball players squared off against ChicagoÕs best in singles and doubles at the University of Minnesota. See the Tournament Results in this newsletter to see how we faired. Hopefully this will become an annual event with bragging rights hanging in the balance.

The state tournaments are coming up quickly. As always, we want to see everyone participate. These tournaments are great fun and good competition and wonderful social events. This year we have gone back to three state tournaments: Open Doubles, Masters Doubles, and Open/ Masters Singles.  The entry forms are enclosed with this newsletter.  The board tried to space these tournaments so that each one was on the last week of February, March and April. However, due to court availability, the first tournament is the first week of the March. Please add these important events to your calendar. The more people that participate, the better the tournaments will be.

As the season ending event, the AwardÕs Banquet is going back to the Fort Snelling Officers Club just south of the airport this year. We hope to see everyone there for stories, laughs, awards and an overall great time.
