MSHA Board Amends Hall of Fame Rules

The MSHA Board of Directors, in response to several inquiries, decided to more closely conform our Hall of Fame candidate requirements to those of the USHA. The major change is to lower the requirement of 55 years old to over 40 years old. (The candidate must also be retired from serious Open competition in Minnesota for at least five years.) This will allow some of our greatest players to be recognized while they are still active and can enjoy the honor on the court.

In addition, the Hall of Fame nomination process has been adjusted to align appropriately with our board meetings. This effectively means that nominations for Hall of Fame candidates should be to the Hall of Fame committee no later that December 1 for the candidate to be considered for induction at the next Annual Membership Meeting or Awards Banquet.

For details contact the MSHA Secretary at (612) 377-0272 or e-mail to MNhandball @aol.com.

Full details and forms for submitting nominations can be found at our world wide web site.

Do we need Absentee Ballots?

It has been suggested to the MSHA Board that provisions for encouraging more of the membership to vote in board elections should be considered. One such provision would be the use of mail-in ballots instead or in addition to the present system of voting at the annual membership meeting held during the State Open Singles Tournament. The Board is interested in hearing your thoughts on this subject as well as any suggested changes in nominating new members to the board. Please write, call or mention your ideas to any board member.
