The 50th annual USHA Four-Wall National Handball Tournament is
coming to the Twin Cities June 3-10, 2000 at the University of
Minnesota Recreational Sports Center.
Gary Rohrer is the local tournament director. If you would like
to volunteer for a committee or a leadership position contact
Gary at (612) 920-8876. Major corporate sponsorship will be required,
so give some thought and make some suggestions, if you can. If
any sponsors would like to make an commitment, contact Gary directly.
The MSHA is producing a special 2000 National Handball glove.
We are hoping you will all want one or more pair. The purpose
of producing these gloves so far in advance of the 2000 Nationals
at the U of M is for advance advertising and also to help raise
funds to help defray the cost of running this big event.
These special addition Owens gloves will be available at all of
the local tournaments in 1999. All of the proceeds from the glove
sales will go toward running the Nationals. We hope you will like
the gloves and purchase many of them. Ask any board member or
ask at the area tournaments or you can contact Gary Rohrer. The
gloves will sell for $20/pair.
Make plans now to participate in June of 2000.
The MSHA is trying to encourage the Minneapolis Park Board to
include four new three-wall handball courts in their reconstruction
of the Northeast Park in Minneapolis. Typical plans and costs
were discussed with commissioner Walt Dzeidzik, a former handball/racquetball
player. He passed the proposal on to the staff but there is no
definitive action to report.
If you live in Minneapolis or are in a position to do so, please lobby for this important project. Contact the editor for more info.
