MSHA Awards Banquet

The Minnesota State Handball Association 2003 Hall of Fame and Awards banquet was held May 9 at the Wabasha Street Caves in St. Paul.  Once again, this special venue, courtesy of Steve Bremer proved a great gathering spot for the final “official MSHA event” of the handball season.

Former MSHA President Brett Broxey emceed the proceedings.  As is his custom, Brett assigned some special duties for the night - most entertaining was Dick Faunce as the “bouncer!”

Sheldon Silberman, MSHA Secretary, recognized all of the 2003 top finishers in the state handball championships.  The Skyway YMCA teams were recognized for their achievement in the 2002-2003 Twin City Handball League.

Al Abrahamson had special lapel pins made for all the MSHA Handball Hall of Fame members and they all gathered on the stage for the presentation.

The Top Seven handball players were recognized and presented with their Top Ten shirts and our major sponsors - Gary and Jeff Rohrer, Bloomington Lake Dental; Steve Subak; Jerry Jordahl, FullView Solutions; Scott Sayer, Traffic Technologies, LLC; were also recognized with Sponsor shirts.

Everyone went home happy with some sort of door prize but most of all - everyone had a great time reminiscing about this year’s and other great handball adventures over a favorite libation.
