MSHA Board of Directors News

Officer Elections

At the first meeting of the 2006-2007 Board of Directors in June, Matt Hiber was elected President, John Miller as Vice President, Larry Larson as Treasurer and Sheldon Silberman as Secretary.

Matt Hiber was re-appointed as Youth Director and Greg Taylor accepted the continued appointment to the Hall of Fame committee.  Continuing with Greg on the Hall of Fame committee are Gary Rohrer and Jim Carlson.

The board acknowledged all of the efforts of the board members in their work on the board and various committees in 2005-2006.

2007 Tournaments

The state championship tournament dates and locations were selected to coordinate with other regional tournaments and the 2007 Nationals.  Given the amount of work required for the Nationals and the early date, it was the consensus to hold only two MSHA tournaments in 2007 – one Open/Masters Singles and one Open/Masters Doubles.  This allows us to avoid conflicts with other tournaments and still give the players a few weeks to get healed/ready for the nationals.

2007 Banquet

After reviewing costs for the 2006 Awards Banquet it was decided to raise the fee from $10 to $15 dollars.  This is still subsidized as the cost per person is $25 to $30 depending on the location and number of guests.  Costs have been under-market in the past when Steve Bremer was able to provide the Caves for our Banquet.  As this is no longer available to the MSHA we experienced higher costs.  This is still subsidized as the cost per person is $25 to $30 depending on the location and number of guests.

2007 Nationals

We have many tasks to accomplish for the 2007 Nationals.  Dates, facilities and costs are known.  We need volunteers, sponsors and players to make it all work.
