For the 16th
consecutive year, the University of Minnesota Handball Classic got the
Minneapolis Handball Season off on the right foot. The 2009 edition of the Classic featured the most exciting Open
final in recent memory with Andy Nett besting Pete Crouser
in a tie breaker. Additional highlights included the Matt Langhorst
winning the A Round Robin and Billy Craig dominating the B. For many, however, the tournament
highlight was the University of Minnesota vs. Minnesota State round robin which saw three Minnesota State players sweeping three
Minnesota players (although most of the matches were close). With the change in the Open division,
however, many bystanders commented on another Nett proving that some things
never change as John Nett once again won the Super Master Division without
ceding a game.
