            Greetings MOAA members,

We had a great attendance at the February meeting on February  16 at the American Legion.   Our next regular meeting is Tuesday, March 20th at the American Legion Post at 11:30 AM.  See you there.  The Venice Area MOAA Chapter Board of Directors will meet following the regular meeting.  The purpose of the board meeting is to review the bylaws, policies and procedures and the scholarship procedures.  Board members are asked to review the documents beforehand and be prepared to discuss them at the meeting.  Board members that do not have a 2006 update should contact me to get a copy.  Any members who has suggestions for changes are encouraged to contact a board member.

The “Give Me Ten” MOAA membership campaign for 2007 is from l March 31 to December, 2007.  The rewards are $10.00 for each new member and $100.00 bonus for 10 new members.  The chapter also receives $20 for each new life member.  Invite prospective members to join our chapter.  Let’s try to make it this year!

After serving four years as social chair, Suzanne White will be giving up her job as of the May picnic.  Our thanks to Suzanne for the great job she has done in arranging for locations for our social events over the past fury years.  Now we are looking for one or more volunteers to take over the responsibilities of that position.

            Sincerely, Alf

GUEST SPEAKER

The guest speaker for the March 27 MOAA Social will be LTC (Ret) Lee Kichen.  Lee is the former Sarasota County Veterans Service Officer and is currently the Veterans Service Officer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Florida  He is also a member of the National VFW legislative committee.  He will update us on current Legislation pertaining to retirees and Veterans.

 DIRECTIONS TO THE SALTWATER GRILL

Take State Road 776 South to Beach Rd, There are Michael Saunders and Coldwell Banker real estate offices and a McDonalds Restaurant at the intersection.  Go west on Beach Road.  After crossing the intracoastal waterway bridges, you will come to a traffic circle.  From the circle immediately turn right (north) on Manasota Key Road.  The Gulf View Grill is the fourth building on the right after leaving the traffic circle at 2095 Manasota Key Road.  It is a two story building that sits up on pilings. You may park either before the building or after.  There is an elevator so that those of us who cannot climb stairs have easy access.  Parking to the south of the building is best as the parking lot has fewer ruts and deep holes.
