It is with much sadness that we bid farewell to Gregory Pitoniak who passed away on August 3. He was a long time member of the Venice Chapter and he and Yvette attended many of our functions. Graveside services were held at Venice Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, August 7. Memorial donations may be made on behalf of Gregory Pitoniak to the Association for Macular Diseases, Inc, 210 E 64th St, #8, New York, NNY 10021. Our sympathies go to Yvette and her wonderful family. May you be comforted by your memories.
I would like to welcome our new members at this time and ask you all to add their names to your membership rosters.

Greetings MOAA members,
Summer is coming to an end. This means that the Venice Area Chapter MOAA fall activities will begin soon. This newsletter contains information about these activities. This is a good time to invite a prospective member to attend a chapter function. We can always use more members.
Progress is being made on the Sarasota National Cemetery with the appointment by the Department of Veterans Affairs of Sandra M Beckley as director. She is expected to begin her duties as director in mid October, 2007. The National Cemetery is currently in the design phase with the first burials anticipated in October 2008.
Sincerely, Alf

SNN TV Channel 6 is doing a series of programs about WWII veterans to be aired in mid September. John Hill of the station has contacted the Chapter asking for names and phone numbers of WWII veterans that he could contact and interview for the programs. Please contact President Alf at (941) 497-748 if you know of someone that he could interview. They do not need to be MOAA members, and could be enlisted or officer. A veteran who lived in Florida at the time he or she entered the service would be wonderful.
