Brett's 1966 Dodge Dart

Well, here she is, my 1966 Dodge Dart 2 door sedan. Personally I rather like the post cars, so it doesn't bother me that it isn't a HardTop. Motivation comes by way of the eternal 225 slant 6, with a 1920 1bbl Holley, and a 904 automatic trans. This drivetrain has somewhere in the line of 240,000 miles on it and is still running well. I pulled the points distributor in favor of a Mopar electronic one. I also added a Mallory Promaster coil that I had rolling around in a box.
| The new drivetrain is in the buildup stages as we speak. It is a long rod 225, using 198 rods, KB hypereutectic 2.2 Turbo pistons, SB ford 300 valves, ported head, custom EFI manifold, and a Ceramic coated Header into a single 2.5" exhaust with a 3 chamber Delta flow Flowmaster muffler. The tranny will be replaced with an A-833 OD, aluminum case unit, since I prefer standard transmissions. The block has already been bored, the pistons and rods fitted and balanced, the new guides and hardened seats installed, and the head ported. I need to take the block to be cut .030 and the head to be angle milled .100/.030. Once all that is done, the assembly begins. | ![]() |

The original small bolt pattern and 9 inch drums have been ditched in favor of a large bolt pattern setup, with discs and 10 inch drums. The suspension was rebuilt at the time of the upgrade with all new bushings and wear components. I opted to go with rubber buchings this time around, so I didn't make the ride too harsh with the addition of the lower profile tires, 1 1/8" front sway bar, and V-8 springs in the rear. |
| Well that just about sums it up for the moment. I could tell you about the stereo, or the electrical system mods, but that really isn't nearly as interesting. I know she's a bit rough on the outside, but it's what's inside that counts, right? | ![]() |

| Nope, you aren't going to fit much more meat under there. | In case you didn't know, this is what a set of 16X7 Centerlines looks like stuffed under a '66 Dart. They're wrapped up in a set of 225/50 R16 Dunlop that are stickier than all get out. I love these tires. If I did it again, I'd go with 4.5" backspacing instead of just 4". |
