Check out OrcaLive - the season usually runs from July to November. From time to time, you'll be able to hear orcas calling, and when they're in range of cameras, you can see them. These sights and sounds are provided by OrcaLab on Hanson Island off northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. You'll need RealOne Player, available as a free download. Look in the upper right corner of the linked page for the free download (it's good enough for viewing and listening to OrcaLive).

Added March 16, 2003 - Portland Peace March 3/15/03

Read about the ASTORIA COFFEE WAR (added August 21, 2002). On March 15, 2003, the Seattle Times ran a story featuring my photo (with credit) of the exterior of Sambucks in Astoria (There goes another second or two of my 15 minutes of fame!).

Other Places in Cyberspace I Like to Visit

I'd like to invite you to visit Robinson's Place on Delphi Forums, a site based on the traditions of Spider Robinson's Callahan's Crosstime Saloon books. The message board contains a Creative Writing folder where I've posted some of my own writing. I'm using the webspace I get for my Delphi Plus membership as the website for Robinson's Place. In addition to photos of Spider in Seattle, you'll find photos of Spider at a reading in Vancouver, BC there. Thanks to Peg from Canada for opening Robinson's. A while back, Peg turned over the reins to me.

Who's Moby?

By the way, my name's Dick Wales. I live in the Portland, Oregon area after moving from Massachusetts in the summer of 2000. I used to do typesetting, then I spent 11 years paginating newspapers.

After an online friend suggested the nickname Moby to me back in 1991, I've used it in several BBSes, chat rooms, and forums. I'm Dick to people who have met me offline, Moby to those who've met me online, even if we meet offline.
