I couldn’t decide which version, the KJV (Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied), or the RSV (chosen and destined by God the Father and sanctified by the Spirit for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you), was more accurate, so I went RSV.
3. geþinged is “destined, fixed” and was more neutral than “fǽge,” which has negative overtones.
4. obedience could be either éaðmédu (obedience, submission, reverence), híernes (obedience, subjection, allegiance), underþéodnes (subjection, submission, obedience), þéawfæstnes (adherence to the rules of right conduct or method, discipline, obedience to rule), or þegnung (service, obedience, suit and service). I chose éaðmédu, but the next best could be híernes.
5. The verb “sprinkle” could have been: ástregdan, begéotan, bescéadan, besiftan, besprengan, bestréowan, geondsprengan, géondstregdan, gleddian, oferscéadan, oferweorpan, onstregdan, sprengan, stancrian, strengan, weorpan. Begéotan seemed best since it was “sprinkle a liquid.”
6. grace could be: ár, árfæstnes, árstæf, bliss, ést, giefnes, giefu, gif, gifnes, hyldu, liss, líðung, tréow, wuldorgiefu, þanc. I chose liss, as grace was its first definition.
7. peace could be éadnes (inner peace), fréod (friendship), frið (tranquility, security, refuge), friðu (safety, protection), grið (truce)
8. yrfeweardung was the closest I could get; yrfe means cattle.
9. Other choices: cunnung, sacu, ǽsce, oferfundennes, onfundennes, gecostnes, geswincnes, fandung, costung, costnung. The most accurate to the meaning would be cunnung, though gecostnes, fandung, and costung are close.
10. wurden gefunden – might be found. I was unsure about this, but it should at least be passive, maybe meahten gefunden weorðan
11. outcome – I took the meaning “result,” and found finta (result, consequence), tóhígung (result, effect), cyme, becyme, wæstm (result, benefit, product), but this seemed more suited to “finta.”
12. salvation – other choices included: syntu1, lǽcedóm (healing, salvation), þæt hálor2, séo háls*, hálwendnes, hǽlnes (salvation, safety), hǽlð/u, hǽlu (safety, salvation), hreddung (slavation, liberation), feorhneru (salvation, refuge, preservation of life), feorhrǽd, duguð (benefit, profit, wealth, prosperity, salvation), áhreddung (salvation, deliverance). The last seemed to fit best here.
