A

Akteva Prime - Planet populated by purple-skinned, tailed humanoids with pointed ears.  This planet boasts several natural wonders, including the "Siranchitha," a northern and southern polar phenomena caused by cosmic rays filtering into the planet's magnetic field, similar to the Aurora Borealis, but on a larger scale.  Svanla Falls and the Caverns of Morhansa bring tourists from as far away as Gamma Hydra and Miridian.  The planet is decidedly anti-military, and they do not enjoy being 'exploited' by Starfleet, as some put it, but the planet joined the Federation in 2335 when the Cardassian Union began making overtures of annexation.  Located near Starbase 47.

Aktevan - a purple-skinned, pointed eared humanoid with a prehensile tail and pentachromatic vision.  They are quite friendly and are often seen in the tourism and service industries.  Some have joined Starfleet, where they excel at computation, statistics, probabilities, and seem to have an almost precognitive ability, though telepaths have assured Starfleet that they are not precognitive.  The species cannot handle alcohol well, as it makes them quite tipsy.  Their tails are prehensile, and they often are seen working with them as if they were a third hand.  They have skin ranging from light purple to a deep purple, and hair from purple, red, pink, and blonde.  They often have purple, black, or blue eyes, with pink eyes being the rarest.

D

Daltar Prime - home planet for the Daltari species.

Daltari - a militant and zealous species located between the Gorn and the Klingon Empire.  They were once conquered by the Klingons due to their limited technology, which had not gotten past warp 4 for four hundred years.  They believe themselves to be the pinnacle of interstellar civilization, and that everyone else is degenerate and inferior, and would be lucky to live under their gracious rule.  They appear reptilian, with gray skin, and have ships that seem somewhat Klingon in appearance, while maintaining a distinct appearance and construction.  Recently, they have begun attacking and raiding border worlds of the Federation for resources and information on new warp drives and weapons to use against the Wa'Cher (Unclean), a term used to describe anyone who is not Daltari.  According to their history, they invented warp drive 1000 years ago, but they simply stole the technology from a peaceful neighboring consortium of warp-capable species.  They took the ship, and conquered eight other star systems with it, creating the Daltari Empire.  Within another century, an entire sector had fallen to the Daltari.  After three centuries of expansion, they were content that they had conquered all the species there were to conquer.  They concentrated on consolidating their rule, and expanding their own race, at the detriment of others.

E

Emperor Class - new class of vessels named for Earth Emperors.  This class is visually similar to the Sovereign class, but is larger and more heavily armed.  It has nearly the speed of the Sovereign, but has more endurance.  Vessels: USS Emperor, USS Constantine, USS Julius Caesar, USS Genghis Khan, USS Augustine, USS Cleopatra

Engla III - world terraformed by the Preservers and given to ancient Anglo-Saxons, who were given 19th century equivalent technology, and developed space flight within 400 years.  After unifying under a world government around 1066, the planet began utilizing the resources of their solar system.  In 1350, they became aware of Vikings 10 light years away in another solar system, and the Gothic tribes in another solar system 14 light years away.  After a series of brief wars from 1389 to 1561, the three systems finally entered into a tentative alliance that lasted until they joined the Federation in 2252 after being discovered by Captain Pike.

Englisc - a race of genetically altered humans from Engla III, planted there by the Preservers around the year 450 AD.  They have better senses than humans, pentachromatic vision, and are naturally stronger than Earth humans.  The planet speaks an older form of English, often writing in Runes and in the Latin alphabet.  From a population of about 20 million, the planet now has over 10 billion across its own solar system, with about 38 million in colony worlds elsewhere.  Their culture is heavily influenced by their Germanic heritage, where the warrior ethic and honor were quite important.  They also practice Christianity to a heavy degree, not having gone through any Enlightenment or Humanist phases.  People from this planet tend not to marry outsiders who do not have an equivalent lifespan (250-300 years), but some have married Vulcans before.

H

Leslie Heidelberg - daughter of Marcus Heidelberg, she is a child prodigy aboard the Utopia, and one of only a handful of children allowed on board.  She was born in 2354 in Munich.

Marcus Heidelberg - Lieutenant Heidelberg is an engineer aboard the USS Utopia, and the single father of Leslie, his daughter.  He was born in Berlin, on Earth.  His wife, Katrina, was killed at Wolf 359.

M

Mi'in - a race of large humanoids with an orange/gold skin and heavy brow-ridge, native to the Alpha Quadrant.  They value loyalty, honor, and morality very highly, and will not deal with unscrupulous cultures.  Several have joined Starfleet and often become security or legal experts.

N

Naroia III - the third planet in the Naroyan system.  Home to the Naroyan race, a race of humanoid with pointed ears, and fair skin.  Black hair does not exist except in the rarest of instances.  They have excellent problem-solving and memory abilities, and make excellent engineers, scientists, and doctors.  The family name comes first, then the personal name, though they often switch those to make it easier for other species where the family name comes after the given name.

Preservers - a race of powerful beings who have saved civilizations on the verge of extinction, including several Native American tribes, the Anglo-Saxon tribes, the Goths, and Vikings (TOS: "The Paradise Syndrome")

Marina Schneider - Lieutenant JG Schneider is a science officer on the USS Utopia, who works mostly with theoretical physics and spatial phenomena.  She is a single mother, raising her 8-year-old Melissa on the Utopia.

Melissa Schneider - born in 2360, she is a very smart, inquisitive child, with blonde hair and blue eyes like her mother.  She sometimes speaks German with people who can't speak German, since her mother and father spoke to her in German on their last ship, and while on Earth for a year.

Wi'ilso'on Ær'inn - Chief Medical Officer of the USS Utopia, previously assigned to Starbase 250.  From the planet Naroia III, she graduated the top of her class in 2359.  She altered the spelling of her name to make it easier for speakers of Federation Standard to pronounce.
