Last night was the first time I was ever able to be close enough to see all the facial expressions. I was a bit disappointed in Justin's lack of enthusiasm, but John Lodge was really into it along with the rest of the band. Seldom did I see a smile on Justin's face! I wonder if after 19 performances he's tuckered out or bored! He can still play a mean guitar and sing those lyrics to reach into your heart and travel back in time. WHY NOT? The progressive style that they helped create is picking up steam again. it would be smart for the MOODIES to address thier "roots " alittle bit, and re-explore some old sounds. I began attending live Moodies concerts at the turn of the 1970's. Their music--especially their lyrics--has seen me through life's triumphs and tragedies. I have had the pleasure of meeting all of the Moodies at least one time each, including Mike Pinder. I have also had the pleasure of constructing horoscopes on each band member based on birth data acquired during my fortunate encounters with each Moody. If humankind survives into the 21st century and beyond, then so will the music of the Moody Blues. At once simple and profound, poetic and prophetic, the music of these five men is destined to be late 20th century pop's epitome of Bach and Beethoven. All others--from the 1950's rock pioneers through bands comprising the 1990's music scene, great and small, will form the backdrop to the Moodies music. In short, our children's children's children will think of the Moody Blues when late 20th century pop music is discussed. No single musical ensemble has ever approached the capacity to pen the romantic ballad, the metaphysical muse, the rocking jam, or the social commentary at the level so obviously mastered by the Moody Blues. Long, long, long live the Moody Blues, kings of the (musical) kingdom! |

Their concert was in Baton Rouge,LA. I last saw them in B.R. 2 years ago. They were wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Baton Rouge Symphony was truly superb also!!! I never saw so much gray hair in one building! I brought 3 friends and we had 2nd row seats.They were in our faces and I loved every minute of it! |

( THE one with Chicago wasnt so bad as Chicago is one of my favorites so I was excited about that show!) The best show however was the Moodies with The Milwaukee Symphony. I thought I was going to climax!!! P.S. I met John once when the band was in Milwaukee for the Sur la Mer tour. We were killing time at a mall before the show, I saw him walking towards the movie theater!! We chatted for about 10 minutes, git his autograph and I saw them live that nite (7th row center) was a very cool day!!!! |

Attended the Melbourne and Sydney concerts in the two "down under" sojourns (February 1984 and February 1987)and will always treasure the experience of meeting Ray Thomas where a friend and I took him out for a feed of spaghetti and went back to our place where we jammed on till 2.00 AM. Yes he had his flute with him! I will never forget his rendition of a selection from Gerswin's Porgy & Bess. |
