We here in Scotland only get one concert, Edinburgh or Glasgow, once in a very blue moon and that's a lot of travelling if you live in Inverness or Aberdeen or Dundee. The last concert I saw was the 'Red Rocks' tour '93 in Glasgow. The concert hall was packed. Please, please guys what about 2 concerts in Scotland instead of 1 on 14/4/00 in Glasgow ?

Comments: Sorry people, even though I am a huge MB fan, the 8/21/99 concert in Chicago just wasn't exciting. The boys were flat and there was no excitement in their show. Don't know if they burned themselves out at the afternoon show or what. Highest priced tickets I ever had, the worst seats I ever had and the the most mundane concert of the 7 I have seen. I guess I'll have to remember Rochester, Minnesota 97'

We just saw their concert on Thur, Sept 17, 1999 at Blossom and all I can say "THEY ARE STILL GREAT!!!!" I just wish they would have had the orchestra with them. I hope they tour my area again Summer 2000 and keep up the Great work of Beautiful Music. Moody's forever!

Their music was well arranged, very nicely done, as always. I met them back stage for the first time, since 1965 seeing them on TV (Shindig). Justin and John were really the two which were available at the time. They stand up to all the positive comments, which I have heard for many years. They are fine gentlemen and are a class act. We first spoke with Justin and then John both very British and poised etc.Very impressive people. A unique experience, indeed.

Comments: Ask most people a question about the Moodie Blues and you 're likely to get an answer like "who's that?" or "they're so old!" or, if you're lucky, "oh yeah! Knights In White Satin and, uh, Tuesday, um, uh, oh yeah, Afternoon! They were good!"

Which leads me to believe that the people who go to MB concerts these days are for the most part people who really love MB music and know quite a bit about it. These same people are the ones who've supported the group all these years and are, for the most part, the ones who have gotten MB where it is today (not that I am trying to take any credit. If not for the great music they created, we wouldn't be here).

Now the paradox. Whenever you see MB fan's stuff on the 'net look for what they say are their favorite MB songs. From what I've seen, the vast majority won't mention the songs that the group normally plays in concert. (Even though what they do play in concert is fabulous, check out this bulletin board for people's "5 favorite songs" and see what I mean).

Now for the idea (with apologies to the fan club or anyone else who may ever have put forth a similiar idea. I don't know if anyone ever has, but here goes): Why not invite people to vote for their own favorite MB songs they would love to hear in concert? The results could be tallied then sent to the Moody Blues in a petition. But this would have a kicker. This would be the results of a poll of the the MB most loyal fans. Here's a potential blueprint.

First, you want the fans to be knowledgeable so you wouldn't get a bunch of dumb votes that mess the thing up. So the rule would be for you to name your top 5 or ten or whatever favorite MB songs, in the order you you like them. But state that the list MUST NOT include the songs that MB normally plays in concert (KIWS, TA, Im Just A Singer, See-Saw, Question, etc.). Anyone who can name say 5 other songs that don't include these, and care enough to take the time to send an email with their vote, I think can be assumed to know something about MB music and should probably be considered a valid vote.
Then after lots of votes have come in they would be tallied and presented to MB (I'm not sure how you would present them-maybe through their fan club or something) along with the following message (or something similar)
-------
Dear MB
Your faithful fans have voted and have a request. We have (explain here the vote and why it was taken) and we would like the following done:

1. Play at least some of these songs in your concerts (the songs that were most highly voted for).

2. Create an album of these songs, or oooh, better yet, A VIDEO!

3. On the album/video, interview band members on what their favorite MB songs are, and why they feel that way (ok, that's a bit of my own personal agenda there, but I'm curious about what they feel and why).

4. Album/Video name suggestions "One More Time For All The Good Old Times," "Thanks For The Memories" (I don't know, these are kind of lame, I know a lot of people can come up with better so put your thinking caps on!).

Thanks for all the great music, and the faithful can collectively say one thing: Your #1 in OUR Hall Of Fame, and that's the only one that counts!
-------

So, whaddya think? I think it would be a great for the group (they can feel like they're really doing something their true fans want, plus I bet it would make them some good money), and we already know what it would mean to us. Plus who knows, maybe the media might here about it and generate some good publicity.

If you like the idea, post a reply (with your email address if you'd like to discuss further). If you have good ideas to add to it, constructive cristicism, or anything that would be helpful, let us know. And also, if you would like to take this letter and post it to other websites or send it as email to others you think might be interested, go for it. Lastly, if you see somewhere that someone is picking up the ball with this idea, post here and let us know so we can participate!

I'd love to hear the Moody Blues play the really good ones (at least) one more time (and I bet you would too)!

(For more on this idea, go to this page: http://beautifulceiling.com/tempmbmb/index.html and click on this topic:Idea: Make one for us die-hard fans!)

Comments: I bought STRANGE TIMES the day it came out, a week ago as of this writing, and I've listened to it once a day since. I wasn't sure at first, but it's definitely grown on me. Perhaps it is the right album for this time in their career. I'd still like fewer synth parts, though. Programming tends to make a lot of artists recordings sound the same. Playing the instruments the Moodies used to be known for gave them their own sound. More Ray songs, please! And don't always stick them late in the album like they're a novelty. And don't always start off with the new single. Every album since LONG DISTANCE VOYAGER has done that. Do you realize that Ray Thomas is the only Moody who's never had one of his songs open an album? Well, I like the album a lot. It's a more solid effort than the previous two- but it doesn't touch my three favorites: EVERY GOOD BOY DESERVES FAVOUR, TO OUR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN'S CHILDREN, and DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED. My favorite post 'reunion' album is still THE PRESENT. Love that one. But I love the Moodies Blues, and 'Nothing Changes' about that.

Comments: Last visit was last year. To the most timeless bunch of fellows ever. I discovered you many many years ago by accident, and have been hooked since. I remember how bummed I was during your much-needed vacations, however, patience brings good things, and it was "Octave." You guys work so hard on tour, you're remarkable that you still want to be here for us. Lovely to see you again.

Comments: The Moody Blues are the best! I have been "in love" with them since I was 10!That's thanks to my father who has every record they made! Who can't relate to their beautiful music? The lyrics are poetry..not just simple love songs made for royalties! They put feelings into words and chords!

I went out and bought all the prior albums and couldn't believe what I had been missing. THe Moody Blues is what music is about. I've seen them only three times twice at sandstone. If they are coming again I'm there. Keep up the good work.
