Gilbert’s Isshin-ryu Karate School
Annual Seminar
with
Sensei John Kerker

Sensei John Kerker was appointed by the late Sensei Sherman Harrill
to take over as the Chief Instructor for the Carson Dojo. He has traveled
the country continuing the seminars began by Sensei Harrill in 1984.
Just before he passed away, Sensei Harrill promoted Mr. Kerker to
Yondan and entrusted him, along with Mr. John Peterson, with the rank
of Rokudan. That rank will take effect at a future date according to the
instructions left behind by Sensei Harrill. As the Chief Instructor and
Sensei of the Carson Dojo, Sensei Kerker continues to teach and pass on
the Isshin-ryu Karate tradition that was taught to him by Sensei Sherman
Harrill.
This seminar will cover the basics, kata, theories, principles and bunkai
of Isshin-ryu Karate as handed down by Master Tatsuo Shimabuku to
Sensei Harrill, and then to Sensei Kerker. Anyone who has attended one
of Sensei Kerker’s previous seminars would know that Sensei Harrill
would be very proud of how Sensei Kerker is carrying on the Carson
Dojo tradition. If you are a traditional karate-ka, do yourself a favor,
and attend this seminar.
