This worked for a while, but I wanted something more, something more different, something cooler. That's when I put a 6" Active matrix color LCD screen in my dash connected to a Pentium motherboard with an overclocked 166 processor in the trunk. I added a 6.4G IDE drive, and a 9.1G External SCSI-3 drive. Then I hooked up the screen and everything else, ran all the wires, and after aboout 20 hours, I had me a neat little computer integrated into my dash being controlled with a mini keyboard and mouse. I can pull up any of the 2000 songs of my choice from the playlist, or from random.

Now that I had over 2000Mp3s, TV, and DVD, I said "What else can I do?"I wanted a PSX or a N64. So I asked a friend who has both if he really uses both of them all the time, or just his PSX (since PSX is better than N64). Sure enough, he hardly ever uses his N64. So I am sort of "Borrowing" his N64 from him, at least until I get tired of playing it.

I still wanted it to be cooler. I wanted a TV too. So I Added an ATI all-in-wonder pro video card with TV tuner and video input. Now I needed a VCR. So I added a VHS vcr to the video input on the video card. Now I needed something better than VHS. I bought a Creative 5X DVD-ROM drive with a hardware decoder card. Then I took out the VCR.

Some other neat things I have done related to the computer is I ran a network jack to the garage so I can pull in to my garage and add new songs from my networked computers in the house to the car's computer. This will soon be Wireless. I found a company a long time ago called Proxim that makes wireless LAN stuff. Either the prices have come down, or I am just willing to pay more, but I seem to remember wireless LAN stuff being prohibitively expensive, but not anymore. The products I will purchase will cost about $300 and allow me to connect my car to the house network within 150 feet of my house. I could spend over $5,000 and then connect to my home network (including internet) from my car. Then I'd be surfin the net at cable modem speed from a radius of 5 miles from my house. I don't think My neighbors would like me to put up a microwave transmitter on the roof of my house, Oh well.
