THE CURRENT COMPUTER

My current computer setup is a PII 333 with 48Mb of ram.  The motherboard is a Dual PII Tyan, with Dual onboard SCSI UW. I am still using my AWE 64 for playback. I still have my 5X DVD rom drive. I now have a 4.3G SCSI3 drive as my main drive, with all my MP3s on the external 9.1G. The computer upgrade was nice! Now I can easily rip audio straight to MP3 at about 6X. I can also run sweet as hell visualization effects, such as Geiss (Pictured  below).  Best of all about my new setup though is not my computer, it is my screen. At first I bought a 12.1" TFT LCD panel from Earth Computer Tech (link below).

The 12.1" was way too big! I mounted it on the back of the passenger side visor and it was really in the passenger's way. I then moved the screen to the same area where the 6" used to be, still to big!!! So I sent that screen back and ordered a 10.4" TFT. This LCD is sold as a kit, they give me the controller board which accepts analog VGA input, the LCD panel itself, and the correct inverter for the CCFL backlights. You can see the screen here mounted under my regular headunit, a Kenwood PS-907. You can also see all of my A/C controls above the headunit. While the price of the LCD is a little expensive, the quality of the screen is excellent! Also, I am not trying to endorse Earth Computer, but they were very friendly and also very knowledgeable, if you need an LCD for a custom project, call them!

This picture shows the wireless IR keyboard in the passenger seat, and you can also see where I have mounted the LCD screen.

This picture shows the motherboard mounted to part of a case to the left, and you can see the power supply, and the back of the DVD rom drive, and my hard drives. While this picture shows how much of a mess the computer area is, all components are strapped and screwed down to prevent them from shifting while driving rough. Incase you didn't notice, all of this junk is mounted  in between my rearseat, and the walls where my amps are mounted, so I the second I close my rear seat up, none of this mess is visible. This part of the system was not meant for show, just functionality.
