MISC STUFF I'VE DONE TO MY CAR!

Enough already about the computer stuff. Some other things I have done to this hooked up Integra is wired up a VTEC light that "lights up my face" when VTEC engages. VTEC is Honda's variable (switchable) valve timing technology. VTEC engages anywhere between 4400-5000 depending on the position of the throttle. VTEC changes the valve timing and lift to a more aggressive cam grind.

A more aggresive grind gives more power up in high RPMs, but usually when you do this, you sacrifice a smooth idle and also low RPM torque. With VTEC, you still have a smooth idle and have torque (somewhat) down low. The GSR also has a dual stage intake manifold which switches to shorter intake runners in the manifold at about 5700 Rpms. This is a very distinct change in engine tone and sounds quite cool. I also made a little light that comes on when this switches over as well. In the gauges picture you can see the two little lights at the bottom of the pic between the Tach and the Speedo. My gauges are white faced, made by me. I almost bought 'real' ones from NR automotive, but didn't want to spend $150 for something I knew I could make. So I took apart my gauge cluster and took off my gauge faces and scanned them. Once they were on the computer, I could do anything to them. So I changed the colors around, made a neat little 'RPM' and 'MPH' to customize my gauges and printed them out on a color laser printer onto sticker paper. Then I heat set the 'stickers' with an iron onto my original faces. Once this was done, I put the gauges back together, re calibrated the needles (a big pain in the ass), and then stood back and admired them :-)

They looked great during the day, but at night, they needed some work. My first idea was black light. White would look awesome under a 10" black light. I could not find a plce to put it and have it look good. So then I thought about using LEDs to shine on them. Then I thought about Blue LEDs. So I bought 4 Blue LEDs and rigged them up. It looks very close to black light. I hooked them up through my factory dimmer, but opposite.

When I say opposite, I mean as I bring my factory dash lights down, my LEDs come up. As usual, I wanted something more. So I added red LEDs right next to the blue ones. Now I can have red, blue, or both (purple sort of). The red LEDs have a circular 'bulls eye' pattern to them. When both Blue and red are on, The majority of the face is sort of purple, with the centers of the gauges being a redish-purple color. It looks very awesome!! Now, I have a 3rd color!! White (okay, not a color, but....). White LEDs are fairly new on the market. They are very expensive compared to regualr LEDs, instead of 50 cents to a dollar or two at most (2$ for a blue one), the white ones are about $9 a piece!! I bought four of them. I will try to get better pics, including all the colors, but for now just stick with these.

Oh yeah, I have also painted my calipers, made my own Cold-air/Ram-air intake, and put on a DC cermaic coated header. The intake is 3" ABS (plastic) pipe ducted to the wheel well, with a lightspeed cloth filter on it. There is also another 3" pipe that aims forward in my bumper area then bends around and sits right up next to the filter to "blow" air on the filter as I move.
