Methods of
achieving our mission

in open

-

presentation and analysis.
-
Researching and analyzing issues relating to traditional Asian cultural
values.
Scholarly
dialogue is essential to building understanding
between complex cultures. Apart from classroom
interaction, the Asian Scholar Fund seeks to
promote scholarly dialogue in two major ways:
The first is to
encourage direct contact and exchange between
intellectuals from different parts of the world.
Participation in
conferences, dissemination of academic
publications, and the creation of inter-university
linkages are ways of promoting such contacts. ASF underwrites these academic exchanges.
Second, ASF is committed to addressing cross-cultural issues
particularly differences between Eastern and
Western thought, exploring mechanisms of
dialogue, and working to reduce cultural bias
and gaps. ASF engages in
curriculum development to incorporate such
issues into the academic structure of courses
and seminars.
Tolerance and
understanding of cultural difference are important for collaboration and
conflict-resolution between individuals,
communities, and countries and is extremely useful in international business.
The Asian Scholar Fund builds on its
previous academic endeavors to become a major
player in the scholarly dialogue that is such an
important element of the broader cross-cultural
process.
